Your Right to Delete Your Data
Under GDPR and other privacy laws, you have the right to request deletion of your personal data. This is sometimes called the "right to be forgotten."
Ways to Delete Your Data
Delete Your Account (Self-Service)
The easiest way to delete all your data is to delete your account:
- Go to Account Settings → Data
- Scroll to the Delete account section
- Click Schedule deletion and confirm by typing DELETE
This will:
- Queue your account for deletion for 7 days. You can cancel anytime during this window from your Data settings — nothing has been removed yet.
- After 7 days, your photos, profile, and account are permanently deleted, and any active subscription is set to cancel at its period end.
- Remove you from all collections you belonged to; collections you owned are deleted.
- Backup and CDN copies are purged within 90 days (see Section 6 of the Privacy Policy).
Delete Specific Content
To delete individual items without closing your account:
Photos:
- Navigate to the photo
- Click the delete option
- Confirm deletion
Collections:
- Go to the collection settings
- Click Delete Collection
- Confirm (this deletes all photos in the collection)
Request Deletion via Email
You can also request deletion by emailing privacy@lovd.app. Include:
- Your account email address
- What you want deleted (specific content or entire account)
- Verification of your identity
We'll process your request within 30 days as required by GDPR.
What Gets Deleted
When you delete your account:

| Collection metadata | Removed at the end of the 7-day window |

| Backups & cached content | Purged within 90 days |
What We May Retain
Certain data may be retained even after deletion:
Legal Requirements:
- Payment records (7 years for tax purposes)
- Records of illegal content reports
- Data required for ongoing legal proceedings
Anonymized Data:
- Aggregated analytics that cannot identify you
- Statistical data about platform usage
Third-Party Systems:
- Data shared with payment processors may have separate retention policies
- Cached content may persist briefly in CDN systems
Important Considerations
Before Deleting Your Account
- Export your data first - Download your photos and account data before deletion
- Cancel any active subscription - Avoid unexpected charges
- Check shared collections - Your photos in shared collections will be removed
Collections You Own
If you own collections with other members:
- Your account deletion removes your access
- Content uploaded by others remains
- Ownership transfers may need to be arranged beforehand
Content in Others' Collections
Photos you uploaded to collections owned by others:
- Will be deleted when you delete your account
- Collection owners will lose access to your contributions
Deletion is Permanent
Once your data is deleted:
- It cannot be recovered
- Photos are permanently lost
- Account cannot be restored
Make sure you have backups before requesting deletion.
Processing Time

Confirmation
After deletion:
- You'll receive an email confirming the request
- You'll receive another email when deletion is complete
- You can no longer log in to your account
