Burst groups in posts

A burst group in a post shows as one photo, its cover with a small badge saying how many more are inside, just like in your gallery. A post with a twenty-shot burst keeps its grid for the moments that differ. Choose Open photo details on the cover to step through every shot in the burst.

When you edit the post, the burst group is one tile too. Take it out and the whole burst leaves the post, while the burst group itself stays as it is.

Posts without a title

A post made from photos doesn't need a title anymore: the photos say it all. Leave the title empty and the post is shown with its kind and date instead, such as Journal · 12 Jul 2025. Events and posts without a photo still ask for a title.

Improved

New since you were last here

Back after a few days away? A quiet line in your home feed marks where the updates you haven't seen begin, such as New since Tuesday. Everything below it is what you already saw, and everything above it is new.

When there is more that's new than fits on one screen, the feed opens right at that line, so you can read down to the newest update without hunting for where you left off. Updates you added yourself never count as new.

New

A new profile page

Open anyone's profile to see their life at a glance: how many photos and posts they have, and over which years. Through the years shows a column for every year, so you can pick one and see just those memories.

Memories opens with anything from today's date in other years, and can be filtered to photos, posts or the ones they are tagged in. Their collections are listed with how much of theirs each one holds. About gathers their birthday and birthplace, the people they are most often in photos with, and the places their memories were made. On a Lovd One you added, choose Add their story to write a few lines about who they were and what they loved.

Clearer photo and post details

Opening a photo or a post shows its details in tidy cards. The date leads, one line says who added it and to which collections, and a small map shows where it was taken. Camera details sit together in one row, and comments have a card of their own.

If a date or a place is missing, you will see No date or No location in its spot. If the photo or post is yours to edit, tap it to fill it in.

New

Burst groups

Took a burst of near-identical shots? Select them and choose Group as a burst to show them as one tile in your gallery. One photo is the cover, and a small badge says how many more are inside. Open the burst group to step through every photo in it, choose Make cover for a different favourite, or take one out with Remove from burst group.

Lovd also spots photos you took seconds apart. Open one of them and a card under the photo offers to group them as a burst, or choose Keep separate and it won't ask again. Split burst group puts every photo back on its own, and nothing is ever deleted.

Improved

A new slideshow

The Slideshow button in the gallery's toolbar opens a full-screen slideshow right over your gallery, one photo at a time. Play, pause and step through your photos from the controls at the bottom. Slideshow options let you pick the speed, choose a fade or slide transition and shuffle the order, and the Full screen button hands the whole screen to your photos.

Emails that say what happened

Lovd's emails have a fresh look in the app's own colours, with a dark version too. A comment email shows who wrote what, and on which post. A new posts email lists the titles of what was added, and an event reminder shows the time on your own clock and the place.

More icons to choose from

The icon picker for collections and posts has many more icons, sorted into clearer groups such as Weather & seasons and Faith & remembrance. Search finds them by the words you would use, like "birthday" or "beach".

Improved

A redesigned home feed

The home feed has a new design. The newest updates are now at the bottom, where the feed opens, and scrolling up takes you back in time. Your own updates sit on the right and everyone else's on the left, each beside the person who shared it.

Share from the bottom of the feed

A bar at the bottom of the feed has Upload media and New post. Drop photos onto it to upload them, or write a post and choose its collection without leaving the feed.

Comments on the feed

Each update shows its latest comments. Tap one to open the photo or post it belongs to.

New

The gallery has a Sort button in its toolbar. Alongside Newest first and Oldest first, you can choose Closest to a date and pick a day, or Nearest the pin to order your photos by how far they are from a spot on the map. Lovd remembers the order you chose.

As you scroll, a small label shows the day you have reached, or the distance from the pin.

Opening a busy day on the calendar now takes you to the gallery, sorted closest to that day. Opening a group of photos on the map drops a pin there and shows the gallery nearest to it. You can also click an empty part of the map to drop the pin yourself.

New

See a new post on the map

While you are creating a post, it now shows as a pin on the map at its location, in the icon and colour you have chosen. Change either and the pin changes with you.

Right-click the map and choose New post here to start a post at that exact spot. To move it, right-click somewhere else and choose Use this location.

New

Swipe sort

Choose Swipe sort on the upload page to go through your photos one at a time. Drag each photo to a collection or a post and it goes up straight away, or leave it for later. You can also tap a few collections and send the photo to all of them at once.

Each card shows when and where the photo was taken, so you can fix either before it goes, and tag who is in it.

Uploads in the background

Photos keep uploading after you leave the upload page. A small note shows their progress wherever you are in Lovd, and View uploads takes you back.

Connection requests

Connecting to someone who has their own account now sends them a request, and the connection appears once they accept. Until then it shows as pending, and you can cancel it.

New

Notification settings

Your account now has one place to choose what Lovd tells you about: invites, new posts and comments, event reminders, birthdays and a weekly summary of what's new.

Reminders and the weekly summary start off, so you only get them if you ask for them. You can mute a collection from its menu when it gets busy, or pause everything except invitations while you take a break.

Birthplaces on the map

Anyone in your collections with a birthplace now has their own pin on the map. Point at a pin to see who it is and where they were born, or tap it to open their profile. The people filter narrows the pins the same way it narrows everything else.

Improved

Hold to select

Press and hold any photo to start selecting, in every view. On touch that is a long-press. On a computer, hold the mouse button down, or right-click and choose Add to selection.

The gesture now works the same on the timeline, map, calendar and people graph, so the Selection button has left those toolbars. The S key still does the same thing.

Colour sliders

The theme pickers are sliders now, both in your account settings and in each collection's settings. Highlight and background colours run in hue order, so you can slide across the spectrum and watch the page change as you go. Roundness has its own slider, each stop drawn with its own corners.

Improved

Slide the toolbar

Press anywhere on the toolbar, buttons included, and drag. The bar now rides whichever edge of the view you take it to and slides freely along it, instead of snapping to one of eight corners. The grab handle is gone, and dragging works by touch on a phone.

A press that stays put is still an ordinary click, and Lovd remembers where you left the bar. Right-click it to send it back to the middle of any edge.

Improved

Scroll the calendar

The calendar is now one continuous scroll. The separate month and year views are gone: months run into each other, and the month you are looking at stays pinned at the top as you go.

Birthdays and posts still sit on their dates. Today, the arrows and the month and year pickers all scroll you to the right spot, and years of photos now scroll smoothly.

New

Photo details

Open a photo and the details panel now shows the camera and lens it was taken with, along with aperture, shutter, ISO and focal length.

Metering, white balance and flash sit under "Technical details" if you want them. This works on photos you added long ago, not only on new uploads.

Improved

Move the toolbar

Drag the toolbar to any of eight spots around a view, or right-click to pick one. Lovd remembers where you put it. On a phone it stays within thumb reach at the bottom.

Keyboard shortcuts

Press ? to see every shortcut for the view you are pointing at, or open the list from your user menu. In a split layout, keys go to the panel under your pointer instead of firing in both.

New

Easier logins

When you get logged out, Lovd will suggest previously used accounts or login methods for speedier entry.

It only ever remembers on your own device, and only who you are, never your password. You can clear it from a device by tapping the X after logging out.

Improved

Zoom button on every photo

Every photo in your feed and gallery now has its own zoom button, right next to the lov heart. Tap it to open that picture full screen.

Arrows that follow your view

When you step through photos with the next and previous arrows, they now move in the same order you see on screen, so they always take you where you expect.

Improved

Tidier family tree

Your family tree now arranges itself with more care. Each side of the family lands where you'd expect, related people stay grouped together, and the empty gaps between branches are closed up.

Person cards are cleaner too, giving names more room and tucking buttons away until you hover.

Improved

Sharper timeline

Photos on the timeline now fill their frames without being stretched or squashed. Each one is scaled from its own proportions and cropped to fit, so faces and scenes look right at every zoom level.

While a picture is still loading, its spot shows a small coloured dot instead of an empty hole, then fades into place when it's ready. Zooming through your busiest years is smoother too, even with thousands of photos in one period.

Improved

Pinch to resize

On a touchscreen or trackpad you can now pinch the gallery to change how big the thumbnails are. Spread two fingers for fewer, larger photos, or pinch in to fit more on screen. It steps through the same sizes as the toolbar buttons, so gestures and controls stay in sync.

Map cluster slider

The map's clustering control is now a slider instead of an on or off toggle. Slide toward finer detail to break big groups of photos into smaller ones, or toward coarser to gather them back up.
