Keep what you love. Share it with lovd.
Today marks a big milestone: lovd. is officially launching. I want to share the philosophy behind how we're building this.
Why We're Different
Most social and photo platforms make money by selling your data, showing you ads, or locking you into expensive subscriptions that balloon over time. We're doing something different.
Your memories are not a product. They're yours. We will never sell your data, use your photos to train AI models, or show you advertisements. That's not a marketing promise - it's a fundamental principle of how we operate.
European. Privacy-First.
Lovd is registered in Amsterdam, Netherlands. We're building with European privacy values from day one - not as a checkbox compliance exercise, but because we believe it's the right way to build software that handles your most personal moments.
GDPR-native means your data rights aren't an afterthought. You own your memories. You control who sees them. And when you want them gone, they're gone.
Just pay for storage
No ads, no doom scrolling, no data harvesting. Everyone gets unlimited collections, notes and events on every plan, including free. There are no feature gates — you just pay for storage when you need more space.
Start free with room for about 1,000 photos. The Personal plan gives you space for around 100,000 photos at $30/year. The Family plan shares space for about 200,000 photos across up to 4 family members at $60/year.
The Social Model
One thing I'm really proud of is how sharing works in Lovd. When you have a paid plan, you can invite anyone to contribute to your collections - even if they're on the free tier.
Your grandma doesn't need to figure out subscriptions to add photos to the family album. Your friend from that trip doesn't need to pay to share their pictures. One subscriber enables everyone to participate.
The storage counts against the collection owner's quota, not the contributor's. This makes Lovd genuinely social without forcing everyone through a paywall.
What's Next
This is just the beginning. Here's what's on the roadmap:
- Trip explorer - See how an adventure unfolds across a map, on a timeline, or through a rich slideshow
- Video - Store precious family video, the cutest clips of your dog, or that toast from the wedding nobody expected
- Auto-tagging - Privacy-first tagging suggestions on your photos
Thank You
To everyone who's been testing Lovd over the past months - thank you. Your feedback shaped what we're launching today.
If you believe photo sharing should be private, that your memories belong to you, and that sharing shouldn't require everyone to download yet another app - I hope you'll give Lovd a try.
Start free, upgrade when you need space, and know that your memories are in good hands.
