Billing & Payments
How payments work
lovd uses Polar as its payment processor and Merchant of Record.
- Invoices and charges come from Polar, not lovd directly.
- Polar collects and remits tax for your region.
- Your card details are stored securely by Polar, and lovd never sees them.
Paid plans are billed monthly or annually (Curator €1/mo or €8/yr, Archivist €3/mo or €30/yr) and renew automatically. You can cancel anytime. See Cancellation.
Accepted payment methods
Credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express), plus some regional methods depending on your country. The available options are shown at the Polar checkout.
Viewing billing history
Go to Account → Subscription → Billing. The Billing History section lists every past payment, each showing the date, amount, invoice number, and status.
Invoices
Each Billing History entry has a download button that opens its Polar-hosted invoice, showing your billing details, Polar as the seller, the amount paid with a tax breakdown, and the invoice number.
Updating your payment method
Payment method is managed in the Polar customer portal:
Open subscription settings
Go to Account → Subscription.
Open the portal
Click Manage Subscription to open the Polar customer portal.
Update your card
Update or replace your payment method there. Changes apply to your next renewal.
Failed payments
If a renewal payment fails:
- Polar emails you and retries the charge over the following days.
- Your subscription stays active during the retry window, so update your card to resolve it.
- If retries don't succeed, the subscription lapses and your account enters a 90-day read-only grace period: your content stays viewable and downloadable, but uploads and edits are paused until you resubscribe. See Cancelling Your Subscription for details.
Taxes
Prices exclude tax. The amount added depends on your location: EU VAT, US state sales tax, or other local taxes as applicable. The exact tax is calculated and shown at the Polar checkout before you pay.
Refunds
Because you keep access for the full billing period, we generally don't refund subscription payments. If you were charged in error or a technical issue blocked your access, contact us and we'll make it right.
