Billing & Payments

Payment methods, invoices, and managing your billing information.

Payment Processing

lovd uses Polar.sh as our payment processor. Polar acts as the Merchant of Record, which means:

  • Invoices come from Polar, not lovd directly
  • They handle tax collection and compliance
  • Your payment information is stored securely by Polar

Accepted Payment Methods

  • Credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express)
  • Some local payment methods depending on your region

Billing Cycle

  • All subscriptions are billed annually
  • Your subscription renews automatically each year
  • You can cancel anytime (see Cancellation)

Viewing Your Billing History

  1. Go to Account > Subscription > Billing
  2. Scroll down to Billing History
  3. View all past payments

Each entry shows:

  • Date of payment
  • Amount paid
  • Invoice number
  • Download link for the invoice

Invoices

Downloading Invoices

  1. Go to Account > Subscription > Billing
  2. Find the payment in Billing History
  3. Click Invoice to download

Invoice Contents

Invoices include:

  • Your billing details
  • Polar as the seller
  • Amount paid including tax breakdown
  • Invoice number for your records

Updating Payment Method

To update your payment information:

  1. Go to Account > Subscription > Billing
  2. Click Manage Subscription (opens Polar customer portal)
  3. Update your payment method there

Failed Payments

If a payment fails:

  1. You'll receive an email notification
  2. We'll retry the payment a few times
  3. Your access continues during retry period
  4. Update your payment method to resolve

If all retries fail, your subscription may be cancelled.

Taxes

lovd prices exclude tax. The actual tax depends on your location:

  • EU customers: VAT is added based on your country
  • US customers: Sales tax may apply based on your state
  • Other regions: Local taxes may apply

Tax is calculated and shown at checkout before you pay.

Refunds

We generally don't offer refunds for subscription payments, as you retain access for the full billing period. However:

  • If you were charged in error, contact us
  • If there's a technical issue preventing access, we'll make it right
