Making a Post
What's a Post?
A post is a single memory in lovd - like "Beach Holiday", "Mum's Birthday", or "First Day of School". Each post has a title and can include photos, a date, a description, and a location.
Posts come in three types:
Album
A collection of photos. Perfect for holidays, events, or everyday moments.
Event
Mark a special occasion like a wedding, birthday, graduation, or trip.
Note
Save a recipe, journal entry, letter, or other text-based memory.
How to Create a Post
Step 1: Choose the type
Pick Album, Event, or Note. Events let you choose an occasion (wedding, birthday, trip, and more); Notes are for text-based content like recipes or journal entries.
Step 2: Add your photos
Select photos from your device or pick from photos you've already uploaded. You can tap to select several at once, or drag and drop from your files. lovd reads the date and location from each photo automatically.
Step 3: Add the details
Give your post a title. Optionally add a description, date, and location - the date and location are pre-filled from your photos when available, and you can edit them anytime.
In the description you can @mention people: type @ and pick someone from the list. Mentions are drawn from the people in the post's collection, or from across your collections when no collection is selected yet.
Step 4: Choose collections
Pick which collections this post belongs to. You can select several - for example, add "Christmas Dinner" to both "Family" and "2024 Holidays". You can also skip this and add collections later.
Tap Create and you're done.
Uploading Photos
Photos are uploaded during Step 2 of post creation. Select as many as you like - lovd handles batch uploads automatically.
Supported file types
JPEG / JPG
The most common photo format.
PNG
Good for screenshots and graphics with transparency.
WebP
A modern format that keeps quality while saving space.
HEIC
The default iPhone format. Converted automatically.
File size and quality
Each photo can be up to 50 MB, on every plan. If a photo is larger, resize or re-export it first.
Your total storage depends on your plan. See Understanding Plans for the full breakdown, and check your current usage in Account Settings → Subscription → Storage.
Photo details are automatic
When you upload, lovd reads the metadata embedded in each image:
- Date taken - when the photo was captured
- Location - where it was taken, if your camera saved it
- Camera info - the device used
These pre-fill the post details, and you can edit them at any time.

After Creating Your Post

- View it in any collection you added it to
- Edit it anytime to change the title, description, or photos
- Add it to more collections, or remove it from collections without deleting the original
Upload Troubleshooting
Upload failed? Work through these in order:
Check the file size
Is the photo over 50 MB? Resize or re-export it smaller.
Check your storage
Have you run out of space? Check your usage in Account Settings → Subscription → Storage.
Check your connection
Uploads need a stable connection - try again if your signal was weak.
Try a different format
If one file won't upload, convert it to JPEG.
Upload seems stuck? Large photos take time, especially on mobile data. Give it a minute, then refresh the page, upload fewer at once, or switch to WiFi.
Photos not appearing? After uploading, photos take a moment to process. If they don't show up after a minute or two, refresh the page and look for any error messages. Still stuck? Contact support.
