Uploading Photos
How Uploads Work
Photos are uploaded when you create a post. During Step 2 of post creation, you can select photos from your device or drag and drop them into lovd.
Supported File Types
lovd accepts these image formats:
JPEG / JPG
The most common photo format. Works great.
PNG
Good for screenshots and graphics with transparency.
WebP
A modern format that keeps quality while saving space.
HEIC
The default iPhone format. Automatically converted for you.
File Size Limits
| Your Plan | Max File Size |
|---|---|
| Free | 20 MB per photo |
| Personal | 50 MB per photo |
| Family | 50 MB per photo |
Storage Space
Your total storage depends on your plan:
| Plan | Total Storage |
|---|---|
| Free | 500 MB |
| Personal | 50 GB |
| Family | 100 GB shared |
Check how much you've used in Account Settings > Storage.
Photo Details Are Automatic
When you upload photos, lovd reads the hidden data in your images:
- Date taken - When the photo was captured
- Location - Where it was taken (if your camera saved this)
- Camera info - What device took the photo
This fills in the post details automatically. You can always edit them if needed.
Troubleshooting
Upload failed
Check your file size
Is the photo over 20 MB (free) or 50 MB (paid)? Try a smaller image.
Check your storage
Have you run out of space? Check your usage in Account Settings.
Check your connection
Uploads need a stable internet connection. Try again if your signal was weak.
Try a different format
If one file won't upload, try converting it to JPEG.
Upload seems stuck
Large photos take time, especially on mobile data. Give it a minute. If it's still stuck:
- Refresh the page
- Try uploading fewer photos at once
- Check your internet connection
Photos not appearing
After uploading, photos may take a moment to process. If they don't show up after a minute or two:
- Refresh the page
- Check if the upload completed (look for any error messages)
- Contact support if the problem continues
Tips for Better Uploads
- Upload full-resolution photos - Don't compress them first; lovd handles optimisation
- Batch your uploads - It's faster to select 20 photos at once than upload one at a time
- Use WiFi for large batches - Mobile data works, but WiFi is more reliable for big uploads
