Privacy & Notifications
These settings control how others interact with you on lovd., whether you share anonymous usage data, and which emails we send you. We keep notifications minimal and never sell your data.
Finding these settings
Click your profile picture (top right) and open Account Settings, then choose Privacy or Notifications. You can also go straight to /account/privacy or /account/notifications. Remember to click Save Changes after editing either page.
Tagging
The Allow Tagging switch controls whether other people can tag you in their photos and content.
- On: others can tag you in photos they upload, and you appear in tag suggestions and tagged-people lists.
- Off: no one can add new tags of you, and you stop appearing in tag suggestions.
Analytics
The Usage Analytics switch controls whether we collect anonymous data about how you use the app. This helps us see which features get used, where people get stuck, and what errors occur.
We never collect your photos or their contents, personal information, or anything we could sell to advertisers. Switch it off and we stop collecting usage data from your account.
Cookies
If you are signed out, a cookie banner appears as you scroll. It offers three choices:
- Accept All: essential plus analytics cookies.
- Reject All: essential cookies only (required for the site to work).
- Customize: pick which categories to enable.
Once you are signed in, manage analytics from the Privacy page above instead of the banner.
Email notifications
On the Notifications page you can toggle two kinds of email. When a toggle is off, you still see the relevant items in the app under the bell icon; you just stop getting emailed about them.
Collection invites
Emailed when someone invites you to join their collection. The email names the inviter and the collection so you can accept or decline.
Event invites
Emailed when someone invites you to an event such as a birthday or anniversary, with the date and details so you can RSVP.
In-app notifications
Whatever your email settings, pending invites and updates always appear in the app. Click the bell icon in the top navigation to view them, then accept, decline, or dismiss.
Emails you can't turn off
Some emails are essential to your account and are always sent:
- Password reset: when you request a reset.
- Email verification: when you change your email address.
- Account security: suspicious sign-ins or security alerts.
- Billing receipts: payment confirmations for paid plans, sent through Polar, our payment provider.
Troubleshooting email
Not receiving expected emails? Check your spam or junk folder, add noreply@lovd.app to your contacts, and confirm the notification type is switched on in settings.
