Collections

Sharing Collections

Invite family and friends to view and contribute to your collections.

Sharing Basics

Collections are private by default. Only you can see them until you invite someone.

When you share a collection, you choose:

  • Who gets access (by email)
  • What they can do (view only, add photos, or help manage)

How to Share a Collection

Open the collection

Go to the collection you want to share.

Tap Settings

Look for the gear icon at the top right.

Go to Sharing

Find the Sharing or Invites section.

Enter their email

Type the email address of the person you want to invite.

Choose their role

Pick what they can do: Viewer, Contributor, or Editor.

Send the invite

They'll get an email with a link to join.

Permission Levels

Viewer

Can see photos and leave comments. Can't add or remove anything.

Contributor

Everything a Viewer can do, plus upload their own photos.

Editor

Everything a Contributor can do, plus organise and remove photos.

Not sure which to pick? Start with Viewer. You can always upgrade someone's access later.

For more details, see Understanding Permissions.

Managing Access

See who has access

Go to Collection Settings > Sharing to see everyone who can view the collection.

Change someone's role

  1. Find them in the sharing list
  2. Tap their current role
  3. Select a new role

Changes happen immediately.

Remove someone

  1. Find them in the sharing list
  2. Tap Remove (or the X icon)
  3. Confirm

They'll lose access straight away.

Invites

Pending invites

When you invite someone, they need to accept before they can see anything. Invites expire after 30 days.

They don't have an account?

No problem. When they click your invite link, they'll be prompted to create a free lovd account.

Invite not arriving?

Ask them to:

  1. Check their spam/junk folder
  2. Search for "lovd" in their email
  3. Make sure they gave you the right email address

You can also resend the invite from the Sharing settings.

Storage and Sharing

Contributors use your storage. When someone uploads photos to your collection, it counts against your storage quota, not theirs. This is how free users can contribute to your paid collection.

This makes it easy to have everyone add their photos from a holiday or event - they don't need a paid plan.
